Toews trade was horrible but a little context does wonders. The cap didn't increase due to covid and Toews, Pulock and Barzal were all RFAs. So yes the Toews trade was bad but with that being said the islanders don't need to dump anyone right now. Even if they do it would be Varly to Vegas. Dobson is already signed. Now you are going to need to pay to unload Holl and Kerfoot since YOU are over the cap

I know but still people need to stop using the Toews trade as reason why Dobson would be trade. YES we know it was one of the worst trades in islanders history but Lou isn't going to make that mistake again

I'm sure he won't, he can't make bad trades when he's asleep all day 😛

He’s not senile he just thinks he’s a lot smarter than he really is. His ego is somehow bigger than his forehead

Lou is the guy you hire to fix your dying franchise, just don't let him overstay his welcome.

The Leafs picked up on it before he could break the team long-term, and now the Islanders need to move his sleeping body over to a park bench.

I’d still want to keep Lou around because he has tons of prestige and runs an organization really well. The isles have opened a brand new, state-of-the-art practice facility (that I’ve had the pleasure to play a game at) and obviously the new stadium, as well as becoming a lot more respected league-wide. However, the game has completely passed Lou at this point and he should not be managing the players on the team. He’d be much better suited as a President of Hockey Operations than as a General Manager.

Agreed, the man still brings good old fashion leadership, but not much else.

I can't wrap my head around how the only thing he's done in all of 2022 is fire Barry Trotz.

I still remember getting the notification on my phone saying that Trotz was fired while in school and damn near throwing up on the spot

Which made you more angry, losing Trotz or losing Tavares? 😅

Definitely Tavares. First hockey game I ever went to was Tavares’s debut, I (still) own three Tavares jerseys, and was sure he’d re-sign after all he said during the season and around the trade deadline in 2018. I know it would NEVER happen, but I honestly wouldn’t be mad if the Isles brought Tavares back after his contract expires in Toronto.

I can kind of picture Tavares pulling a Spezza and going back to Long Island on a cheap deal, especially now that you're not playing in front of a Honda Ridgeline anymore 😂
