Alternative NYR direction

Description
- the way I see it Chytil's days was numbered when they signed Trocheck to that 7 year deal.
- I think WPG can be suitable trading partners because they will lose PLD for nothing.
- If not than any team willing to pay a 3rd and a 5th pick.
- Although they have some nice center prospects, they are not really roster ready yet.
- the return, this is harder to gage.

- When NYR paid Goodrow 3rd line money for 5 years. He f**king should play 3rd line. I don't give an F**
- I put Blais as a healthy scratch because this scenario is based on the fact that Kravtsov can take a roster place. If not he is gone too. Maybe he can get us a 3rd in 2024 in that case.
- If Othmann doesn't make the roster it is another year of Junior hockey for him. In that case Cuylle will play 3rd line, or Blais on Left.
- Vesey didn't make the cut. He will provide stability and leadership to Hartford. He will play 4th line if Hunt gets injured.

your "alternative direction" is to ship off one of our best young players along with two depth pieces for nothing? i mean luckily it doesn't make our lineup significantly worse, its just kinda.. unnecessary

i mean id rather use him as a part of a bigger deal on the deadline, or trade him for a prospect, or just use him in the playoffs as our 3c and trade his rights for a similar return.

also, saying goodrow should play 3rd line because we payed him 3rd line money is kinda weird. i don't care what he signed for, play him where he benefits us the most. if that is as a 4c, then he should be playing 4c. we're trying to win here, not be obtuse

I don't think Chytil will get you much of a return. It is hard to grow players on the third line. This is if I was GM. So if you disagree be happy I am not GM for real then.

Secondly it creates roster spots and cap space. So not that unnecessary

It creates roster spots for our zero NHL-ready center prospects and one other 3c-capable center, excellent. In this case, what happens if Trochek or Zibanejad get injured? I mean even Goodrow getting injured would ruin our depth, I don't wanna see how this team would do with Carpenter and Rydahl as our 3C and 4C...

Chytil proved that he has upside last playoffs and is still young enough to have room to grow, you don't trade players like that if you aren't getting anything in return. If he truly is only worth a 2nd round pick, I'd much rather keep him as our 3c for the foreseeable future. If his value truly is that low, we should be able to resign him for cheap.

I understand creating cap space, but what's the point of purposefully making our team worse? You don't dump good players for cap space when you're a contender: you either keep them to win or use them to improve, this trade does neither.

players can absolutely grow on the 3rd line...unless they are given 4th line minutes. Chytl's pts/60 the past few years has been with elite company. The problem is Gallant hasn't trusted him to give him the minutes to really provide heavy production. To be fair- his dismal FO % doesn't help his cause....and the coach might give him more opportunity if he knew the team wouldn't go right to puck retrieval once the puck is dropped. That's on Chytl to work on- and it is a very acquirable skill if the hard work is put in. But with time on ice- with quality offensive players- there's no reason to believe Chytl can't hit another gear.
