Even if Thompson is good, they will need Hutchinson to be hot, or Thompson to be great and play a ton of games until Brossoit is back. Otherwise, they are probably struggling to make it into a wild card position.

Well they have two choices. Stack their forwards with UFA letting their AHL bets develop or over pay for a goalie to play for 1 year and force players that may not be ready to play in the NHL.

Brossoit had his surgery in May and should be back within the first month or two. I would be more willing to bet on their goaltending under Cassidy and stack the forward group than throw assets at a goalie rental than they will lose after this season.

Nah, they do have choices. Instead of Statsny, they could go get some goalie-help just in case at least until Brossoit is back. Or even package Brossoit for a temp. starter.
