If Calgary doesn't keep Weegar (they likely do) they'll be trading him for a RW or center (preferably a right shot) or even picks/prospects but not for Taylor Hall.

Also while it's not ideal Calgary can afford to eat the last year of Lucic's cap hit. They aren't going to pay much to move him, especially not with retention.

Besides the defenseman Boston wants is local boy Noah Hanafin. He might be available for Brandon Carlo+

Why Boston trad a RHD of a LHD when we have 5 LHD already on the roster and our best defensive prospects is also a LHD. Meanwhile after McAvoy & Carlo we don't have much in the way of RHD.

Sounds pretty much the same as Calgary with LWs like Hall. And LD too for that matter, Calgary isn't trading a RD but they have more LD than there are spots for.

IOW, we don't need yet another LW or LD but we could trade a LD for a RW or Center (preferably a right shot).
