Description

Coming from an Oilers fan what a great trade this is for Calgary. Next year they are gonna have so much cap space to spend and can really do some damage. Now year 10.5 mill is a lot but people have to factor in the higher income tax and the premium of paying guy's to play in Canada. So in that sense I'd say it's very comparable contract to Gaudreau's. And you can argue who's better but Huberdeau definitely isn't any worse than Gaudreau so such a great replacement.

Anyone upset with this deal is a lunatic. Huberdeau is gonna win hearts and minds. Not to mention the fact that their last 2 superstars basically rejected the franchise and here comes a star who wants to embrace it. Good guy that Hubby-doo

Exactly, and recency bias is such a big thing. If Tkachuk's contract had been up a year earlier, there is no chance he would get 9.5 mill. Although he's an unbelievable player, he's only had one season over a point per game. There is a very good chance he put's up less than 80 points next year.

Huberdeau has consistently year over year been a point a game guy and I would argue he almost a lock for 80 points next year

Tbh no i didn't, just new they are a little light on younger players and had just traded away a left shot D. Keep in mind this is 2023-2024 so their cap situation might be different by then

The Pens currently have NINE dmen. On the left side we have Dumoulin, Pettersson, POJ, Smith and both Friedman and Rutta play both sides. The Pens are also currently OVER the cap by $1.5M.

I don't expect people to know everything about all teams, but this is pretty obvious stuff you could have seen by taking a quick glance at our page on here.

Ok, I didn't notice it was next year, but the Pens still have their defense set even after Dumo leaves. Plus we still have cap issues with players we need to keep. Our roster will like look much like it does now.
