I don't think you get a 1st for Ferraro. Also, that Zaitsev trade is horrifying. He's a worse player than Simek getting paid twice as much, and Simek isn't even a very good player.

None of these deals make the sharks better and i doubt any of the other teams agree to the deals anyways.

Ferraro is worth a 1st. regardless even if we could get a 1st, he is by far our our best LD and we should NOT consider trading him.

You don’t think Tampas 1st would get Ferraro? Wow must be really low on him. Goodrow got a Tampa 1st. Ferraro is 23 and puts in so many minutes, worth more than a late 1st. If Dach got the 13th overall, Ferraro certainly can get a 1st

Let me start by saying I'm a big fan of Ferraro. I don't want to trade him, and he's a great guy for the Sharks. That said, he played big minutes last year and absolutely got his face caved in. He is a good defenseman, but not good enough to be playing 25 minutes a night. A late first is probably possible for a return, but I don't think the Sharks should entertain late firsts in exchange for one of their only defensemen with upside.

I feel this season might not be a great showing if he is paired with Karsson i feel he will have to be so focused on D that his offensive numbers remain stagnant. i really want to see him paired with a defensively minded RD so he can play up and showcase his offensive potential.
No matter what though a late 1st will not replace Ferraro or his ability or leadership here and would be foolish of us to even entertain trading.

I'm hoping to see the lines start something like Knyzhov/Karlsson, Ferarro/Nutivaara, Vlasic/Benning, with Simek scratched. I don't like Merkley as a starter based on his play last year, but I am worried that Knyzhov won't be the player he was a year ago. If he doesn't work out, I think you end up forced to pair Vlasic with Karlsson, which has historically not been a fantastic pairing. Vlasic did show some frustration in his exit interview last spring about his icetime. If he really thinks he can handle more icetime, why not give it a shot?

The Sharks have 2 guys who have proven they can handle top 4 minutes last year (Karlsson, Ferraro). Megna isn't even a lock to start in the NHL, Merkely doesn't look good enough yet, Simek was a "healthy" scratch all year, Nutivaara/Benning are total question marks in the Sharks system, which leaves... Vlasic and Knyzhov. Knyzhov hasn't played a game at any level in over a year. I definitely don't think the Sharks defense is in a good spot, I'm just trying to be realistic about their options.

agree! sharks have a lot of guys but none that make me feel comfortable about our top 4 beyond ferraro and Karlsson and even they don’t give me a ton of confidence, ferraro had a bad year last year and karlsson feels like he could be injured in warm ups since comming over to the sharks.
