Defense wins cups when the whole team is playing defensively and turning it into offence. You cant win when you're converting turnovers into nothing. Makar is a perfect example. Guy can shutdown McDavid then carry the puck end to end and score. He's basically a forward and defenseman all in one. Shut down defense doesn't win ****.

are u not worried about losing staal, pacioretty, Anderson, and rantta the year after? Id be surprised if any of those guys re-signed given how frugal the canes are. Same thing with Skjei and Pesce the year after, they are going to want to cash out after being signed to friendly deals. Canes fans are saying they wouldn't sign a 30 yr old Miller to a 5/6 year deal worth around 8.5 mill but are going to sign 30 yr old Skjei and Pesce to 6+ mill each doesn't make sense.
