You're not paying attention to the re-signs that will need to be done. Blackwood, Mercer, McLeod, Bastian, Zetterlund, Haula, Sharangovitch, Siegenthaler, Graves, Walsh, Bahl, Boqvist. This is a win this season EA NHL roster and no thought put to future signings whatsoever.

Graves and Haula walk, they're both replaceable.

McLeod, Bastian, Walsh, Bahl and Boqvist have yet to earn anything more than max $1.5m contracts and most will be fringe players at best.

Sieg and Shango will get raises, couple mil each. Graves and Wood coming off would make up for them easily.

Blackwood is an unknown, definitely hasn't earned a raise as of now though.

Mercer, who knows. Still two years for that though.

You're kind of missing the point. You are still left with having to sign or re-sign a handful of players with $5 mil. Even if you luck out and get some decent cheap contracts, it still leaves you scrambling to be cap compliant for the next few years
