Red Wings decline. Denisenko and Horn for future considerations then maybe... Same with the Flames trade.

I like the kid from the Panthers.

I think we do quite well on the CGY deal.

Smh. At that point, FLA is just better off buying out Horn.
And no on the Calgary trade? I'd LOVE to hear the great reason why... You're getting a first and Zary (who is going to be at the very least, a 3rd liner in the NHL, plus Lucic's salary and experience for the young guys on your team, PLUS Monahan, who at the very least, you scratch. Best case for Monahan though, is he rebounds and you have a trade asset on your hands. All for three guys who aren't core pieces.

I think people just like too troll on this website.

Yeah, he’s not. He’s a middling NHLer with some marginal upside.

Lucic and Monahan are cap dumps and typically for 1 year 5-6 million dollar players that's a 1st you have to add so that takes up Zary and the 1st. So that just leaves a 3rd for a retained Suter, Erne (which whatever have him) and Smith. I'm just saying it's close but if you want red wings to take ~11 million dollars on which is huge in the cap space era, you gotta add more.

I can't see Calgary trading their 2023 1st rd pick and there is NO WAY Yzerman brings Lucic to Detroit.

Idk, I kinda place Suter’s value as MAYBE a 2nd rounder with retention. Erne is maybe worth a 3rd in an average draft. Givani a 6th.

Taking back 1 year of a $6m contract is like 2nd round pick and maybe another pick. I think Zary still has some really good potential to be a top 6 forward, he didn’t set the world on fire last year but the potential is there. I’d be very happy with that trade from the wings perspective.

Why does every keep saying CGY won’t trade their 1st, as if it’s going to be a lottery pick. I’m assuming it was because they lost Gaudreau and were losing Tkatchuk?

Now, with the move they finally made in getting back Huber; it seems they’re not going to miss a beat (and maybe still not done making moves.)

What’s your take on Lucic? Is there some history I forgot about or don’t know about?

Losing their 2 best players is part of it and this draft is really deep. You also have to consider Huberdeau an Weegar are both UFAs at the end of the season. I have no idea if they will be able to resign both or either of them but trading that 1st before they resign at least one of them would be a bad move. Huberdeau did score 30 goals last season but Gaudreau had 40 and Tkatchuk had 42. That's about 30% of the goals they scored last season. Suter, Erne, Smith and taking on one year of Lucic isn't worth a 1st by itself.

With Lucic he still has an NMC and he wouldn't ok the trade to Calgary unless they honored it. Even if Detroit is on his 8 team list or he waives for Detroit he will still want Detroit to honor his NMC which means he 'd have to ok any move including a trip to GR. I included a link that explains the other reason Yzerman would never bring him to Detroit.
