Not if his team is desperately trying to clear cap space and everyone knows it. See Paccioretty.

Not for a cap dump. Carolina got Paccioretty for free for that reason. If they are getting Tkachuk, they have little leverage

A player who just scored 91 points isn’t a cap dump. That’s crazy and they can move him to a team with a ton of space like Anaheim, who can retain 50% and move him to another team for a 1st

"See Paccioretty" sooo i see you offered a 2nd.. which means you agree he has value and that you are willing to pay for him. Carolina gave up nothing you are giving up a 2nd? imo Tara gets a 1st or 2nd + prospect

He doesn’t get that much as an expiring player on a team trying to clear cap space. That’s not how it works. That’s deadline value with retained salary.

Having value doesn’t mean he has high value. What kind of logic is “you think he has value so he must be worth a first?” Hilarious.

Of course a productive player can be a cap dump. What are you taking about?. Again, Paccioretty was Vegas’s best forward last year. And he was given away for free. Think about it for more than 5 seconds.

you called him a cap dump lol then proceed to give up a 2nd for him. He just had 82p in 75 games only thing that is "Hilarious" is the limited amount of thinking it took for you to make this assumption. Penguins dont have cap space to waste either so logically they cant afford him or his cap. 21 player roster w 200k.

Explain how this is the same situation? That’s right it’s not. They can send him to Anaheim for a 2nd. They can retain 50% and get a 1st plus a prospect for a year of Tarasenko from a team that wants to contend for a cup

Paccioretty was moved bc Vegas had zero cap space... Blue dont need to trade for MT and probably will move Tara in a trade for him so he can be flipped for assets.. lol they more than likely wont give away a ppg+ player for free... AGAIN CAP DUMPS ARE NORMALLY A PLAYER YOU PAY TO GET RID OF.... you are clearly paying for him

he lacks the mental capacity to understand Vegas HAD to trade him to be cap compliant...Blues can easily just move him in a trade for MT

It is. Neither of you understand the concept or leverage or the fact that cap dumps can be done while still getting value back (you have to be really stupid not to grasp that).

Last week, the Penguins traded Marino in a cap dump to New Jersey. They still got value back. It’s still a cap dump. Don’t be intentionally stupid. Pretending not to understand a basic concept doesn’t help your argument.

John Marino was traded as cap dump last week and his team still got back value. That’s how it usually works in this league. What are talking about? It’s like you don’t understand that players can have value while getting dumped to clear cap space. It’s baffling.

I’ll spell it out for you: Teams get less back in return for players when they are trying to clear cap space and everyone knows it. It’s not hard to grasp.

The Marino trade was done so the team had enough cap space for Petry. Stop pretending not to understand it. These kinds of transactions happen regularly and teams get value but not full value on players they are trading away.

Few things annoy me more than someone understanding something but pretending not to just to be irritating. Stop it.

Explain? Marino replacement on RS is more expensive. LMFAO what a terrible take. Penguins move Marino bc they thought they were getting a younger player with more upside... they also are changing the D hence trading Matheson.

TML are over the cap they should probably trade Nylander for a 3rd? thats your logic. moving great players for nothing right? good talk

…you genuinely don’t understand that Marino was moved to clear cap space for Petry (who was more expensive than Matheson)? I’m sorry, man. I thought you were just pretending not to understand.

Tarasenko has requested a trade from St. Louis and is an expiring contract that is logical to move to make room for Tkachuk. How is that in any way comparable to Nylander? Lol. This is pathetic.

Petry cost more money than MARINO ... idk how you arent understanding its pretty easy. BOTH ARE RSD. Yes clearing cap to add an worse older player who makes more money is intelligent.

lmfao now how dumb does your logic look for the BLUES to just give away Tera?

Petry had 107 giveaways last year...and only 17 takeaways....

The point is that you genuinely don’t understand that when teams are trying to clear cap space, they get less in return for players they trade away to make I happen?

It’s a really simple concept. The Penguins needed to clear cap space, they got little value for Marino. In this scenario, it would have been the Blues doing that to make room for another trade. This happens all the time.

Columbus just did this with Bjorkstrand and Seattle. They got very little in return for a very good player because of the cap crunch.

Quit embarrassing yourself. It’s not hard. You are just being stubborn and refusing to understand how teams lose value when trying to clear cap space.

"Columbus just did this with Bjorkstrand and Seattle. They got very little in return for a very good player because of the cap crunch." AGAIN TEAMS THAT ARE IN CAP CRUNCHES DO THIS... BLues arent in a cap crunch and the OB deal is one of the worst deals of this offseason. SO you suggest the Blues also make a terrible move? great plan

Jordan Kyrou would have been the one going to Calgary in a St Louis deal. And then they still would have had to clear cap space. Sorry you didn't get that.
