I think Nash is underrated ... however, i don't think Carolina would do this. Just my opinion though.

Not even close for Faulk. Not even remotely close for Duchene. In the wrong galaxy for Bennett. And the rest are slight overpayments for teams that don't need to pay that price for a depth player.

Duchene and Stepan have comparable stats minus one outlier season for Duchene and they are about the same age. Stepan is more defensively responsible and a proven penalty killer and leader. I don't think this trade is way off, a draft pick from NYR might seal the deal. Duchene is rumored to move anyway (as always). The Faulk one I agree is wishful thinking.

Stats or not, you cannot compare the two players. Duchene is a world class center; a regular Team Canada member. Stepan is a middle 6 center that can barely cut Team USA. In no way does Sakic just swap Duchene for Stepan.

I'd think a team like Colorado is looking to improve beyond just offensive numbers. That's why this deal could work. add a draft pick or D prospect maybe

I'm confused about your assessment of Duchene. That guy has #2 center on a good team written all over him. Just like Stepan. Maybe he can recapture his old form, but he's three years removed from being a point per game player. If I'm the Rangers, I'm thinking about this deal, but ultimately I don't think I'm doing it. The difference in defensive skills, for me, more than makes up for the difference in offensive skills. What are you seeing that I'm not seeing?
