Why do you want a $3 million backup that played in the AHL last season?

Probably not far off on the Ducks trade, but I can't see Shanny wanting to move that many draft picks, and again, your left side looks horrible without JVR. I realize that he's an asset who's a UFA after the season, but you're filling a hole by creating a hole. You've got the cap room to sign a veteran FA for a couple of season, that's probably a smarter route to take.

I was thinking something along the lines of the Grabner trade two years ago. Trade a couple of AHL-spare wingers for a OK player with 1 year left on his deal. I wouldn't necessarily include Leivo in the deal either. I just put him in because I didn't have him on my opening night roster.
