You really lowballed Alzner. I think he gets in the 5 to 5.5 mil range. Can not see him taking less.Faulk for Stephan is a NO!

Probably low balled Alzner but I'd be surprised if he gets more than 4-4.5
Don't think Stepan for Faulk is unrealistic with a 2nd round pick. Carolina is a young team who needs veteran leadership and this would give them strong center depth.

You manage to get rid of Girardi and Staal (but keep a lot of money, that retained and buyout combo is over 6m dead in the 2018-19 season) and then sign Alzner? he is a younger version of girardi/staal. Slow, beaten down by shot blocking and getting paid for past performance. No no no no please no no. Would rather see Berezgalov, Pionk, Graves making rookie mistakes all year than that guy on our cap.

Alzner is only beneficial on a short term deal 2-3 years. Much lower cap hit than Girardi and he's only 28. Agree he has taken a lot of shot blocks but can use him as 3rd pair with limited minutes. We only have 2 or so years of Lundqvist left so I'd rather pair him with one of the rookies for stability for that time and then they replace him at end of deal. Also likely he will get more years/$ from someone else who hasn't learned from our mistakes.

No way CAR trades Faulk for that deal. They are deep team at Center. To get Faulk it would take Ryan Graves or SERGEY ZBOROVSKIY, a 2017 or 2018 1st round pick & either JT Miller or Buchenvich. No one is giving up a top pair RD for Stepan.
