i don’t really think there is that much if you wanna keep a competitive team. Siegenthaler and johnsson are super underrated and definitely need to be brought back, especially sigenthaler. we can afford to lose johnsson, but i’d rather have him than palat tbh. they were both analytical darlings last year. severson is also written off for some reason, gotta bring him back. most of the money coming off the books i wouldn’t necessarily call mediocre. losing them does make the team worse. and the ones that are bad don’t really create enough cap to sign the young guys if they pan out. can’t really be paying a middle 6 winger like palat $6m.
also blackwood is ass and forever will be, if bernier isn’t healthy i don’t think that tandem gets them into the playoffs.
I'm happy to give Blackwood another year. Contract year, fresh and healthy start to a season.
Johnsson hasn't been impactful at all, the only time he's performed in NJ is when Bratt carried him on his shoulders.
Tatar, Johnnson, (Haula? we'll see how he does) are definitely mediocre money.
Graves, Wood and Blackwood are/can be impactful. Graves is likely gone just because of need, Wood will probably be gone/cheaper next offseason, Blackwood we'll see.
Severson is definitely impactful, but it's hard to say where he fits after the Nemec pick. I'd love to extend him on like a 4 year contract, but I don't know if he'll go for that.
Sieg and Shango are definitely keepers.
Smith, McLeod and Bastian aren't anything I'm worried about. Smith is probably the only one that still has potential to be anything on this team moving forward, but he won't be expensive.
