Suzuki has displayed no sign of being NHL ready. 14 points in 34 AHL games. His peers in the canes system preformed better than him. That includes the following players to play min 10 AHL games. Ponomarev, drury, Lajoie, keane, Gunler, chatfield. Sure the d men are all older but Gunler and ponomarev are both younger and had better PPG in the AHL than suzuki. Drury is one year older and played so much better. Suzuki is lucky if he is a top 10 prospect in the canes system rn

The only way Petry ends up in Carolina, is if he gets double retention. Canes have no interest in acquiring an older, declining dman on a terrible contract, especially at the full cap hit.
