I agree with Zucker but I truthfully believe Pettersson can get back something minimal. He ended the season on a strong note and in the playoffs. Yes I know he was getting scratched some games, but I don’t really see us needing to pay anything and if we do nothing drastic. But even Zucker, he’s still a decent forward. We’ve seen worse get traded with bad contracts for minimal. So I don’t know.

The 3rd in '23 is worth more than the 3rd in '22 so I would argue that PIT would have to throw in Kapanen for this deal to be accepted. He's being walked here anyway.

Retaining wouldn’t even be too bad because it’s just for a year. I could just see them keep him and let him walk next summer but who knows.
