I wouldn't.

I wouldn't move Addison for him 1v1 let alone add Talbot to the trade.

Guerin is on record stating that he wants a Talbot/Fleury tandem next year.

If Flower is re-signed it's not automatic that Talbot gets traded. The only reason to do so kinda just got delt to LA, so I don't see this happening.

If they’re keeping Dumba. I would make this move in a heartbeat. It’s either time for Addison to step up into a top 4 role or to trade Dumba. Having both doesn’t make sense IMO if this deal is I. The table.

Russo broke that comment down as basically GM speak. Brandon M on KfAN today speculated that the holdup for MAF re-signing might be that MAF doesn’t want to split with Talbot if he stays, he wants to be the 1.

It's time a 22 year old kid who needs work on his defensive game has to step into a top 4 position and role when there's absolutely zero reason to rush this kid?

How does that make sense?

Dumba is still under contract for at least through next season. Your being premature by at least a year in your calculations.

There have been numerous articles and comments made that want him to play less like Dumba and more like Spurgeon. Building/becoming and learning to be defensively sound takes time. The average age for a defensive prospect to become defensively proficient at an NHL level is 24-26.

Again, Addison is 22. By default, that should grant him a reprieve for at least the next couple of years. Besides, I don't think Addison was ever Dumba's replacement. He's Spurgeon's.

This deal changes nothing for long term projections.

You think Addison is Spurgeon replacement? Spurgeon is here for like 5 more years lol. Rush him? He’s played 2 seasons in the AHL. How many AHL seasons does he need? You trade Dumba now to get an asset for him, that’s why. Otherwise Dumba leaves for nothing after next season. The smart play is to trade Dumba, move Addison up. If Addison fails then you make an adjustment at the trade deadline. He could very well take off though.

Yes, they want Addison to play like Spurgeon, because Spurgeon is very good. Not because he’s going to replace Spurgeon lol.

Getting a potential top 6 C doesn’t change the long term projections of the team? That’s weird. We’ve been trying for over 20 years to get a legit 1C. CM may not be that now but he’s got potential to be a legit 1C.

Addison is only 22 and it typically takes defensive prospects until their 24-26 to become defensively proficient.

Furthermore, Spurgeon's contract changes to a 10-team M-NTC after two more seasons. He doesn't have to stay here for the full five, what are you smoking? He's movable after the next two and will be 35 once that change happens.

That directly lines up with Addison's 24-25 year old seasons. Which is well within the normal typical age curve for defenseman.

But we need to rush a prospect before he's ready? How is that smart? That prospect is horrendous defensively and needs to improve on that area of his game before he'll ever be trusted to play in the NHL.

But let's deal him when we only have one other prospect who's close to his ceiling. That seems like the smart play to me.

SMDH.

By all means, go get Dach.

I'd love to trade for him. But don't use Addison to do it when lesser prospects tacked onto one of our two firsts would get the same trade deal done.

Edit: Besides, at what point has Dach looked like a potential 1C to date in the NHL? He's absolutely a buy low candidate, but that doesn't make him a sure thing either.

Actually the Avg age for a rookie is 22. They just said that at the draft last night. So we wouldn’t be rushing him. Spurgeon’s replacement likely isn’t in the system yet. Russo has not mentioned your theory once. And moving a 35 year old Smaller Dman with that cap hit? You’re asking me what I’m smoking lol. Good luck.
