Flyers send the lesser of their 2024 1st rounders plus a former 1st in Frost to Colorado to acquire Samuel Girard. Philadelphia notoriously overpays for defense, and this could be something Colorado takes advantage of. It is open information that Philadelphia for some reason wants to contend this upcoming season which might lead to a trade involving the talented defenseman.

While keeping Sam Girard could be beneficial, the Avs already proved they could win without Girard. Girard is coming off an injury riddled season, but still has the talent to be a solid top 4. With the addition of Jan Rutta on the right side and paying Andrew Copp, there becomes less room for Sam Girard to fit into the lineup. His 5 million dollar cap hit will also need to be off the books as late as next season, as the Avs are due extensions for Alex Newhook and Bowen Byram. There are multiple places he could land and I’m sure many teams with be interested, I just happened to choose Philadelphia. Kaut and Frost are 2 former high regarded prospects who just need a change of scenery.
