Why trade a future 3rd for Puljujärvi when he isn’t an upgrade for us and isn’t that good? If we’re gonna be bad next year I don’t see BMac trading high mid-round picks.

Trading Eller and giving Lapierre a shot is probably what they should do if they're just gonna throw away the season by doing the exact same **** as last year with Backstrom, but I fully expect Eller to start the season as the 2C at this point. Protas replaces Wilson on the top line, McMichael centers Snively and Sheary on a 3rd line that gets 4th line minutes, and the only major addition is Kuemper/Campbell/Husso in net. Another first round exit if we're lucky.

But hey, maybe we'll get lucky and all our Russians will get stuck in Russia. That'd at least force them out of this bull**** complacency.

Puljujärvi is one of the better defensive wingers in the league? hes young with massive upside. Sheary isnt the long term solution like Puljujärvi would be. mid round picks dont matter during this window. Name the last 3rd round pick to consistently play on the Capitals THAT WE DRAFTED....

i would assume Backy is done...if not do you really want the version of him that is left over from the surgery? i would aim at Miller w retained salary... if Backy comes back and its really bad we extend him... if Backy is amazing extend Miller and trade Kuzy for a massive haul.

Our last 3rd rounder to play for us was Stephenson, who broke out as soon as he got minutes in Vegas. Every pick matters, especially in a rebuilding era.

As for Puljujarvi, he's excellent defensively, I just don't think he's worth a 3rd.
