Like the thought with the Habs and. Caps trade for all teams.. Might be too much actual $$$ for Arizona to take Kassian.

Habs would say yes... but they need to clear cap space before they do.

with Petry likely out of MTL by the start of the season - We will need a RHD PMD. Altough, Habs would love to acquire Poolparty as well - maybe for Allen and a 2nd?

I think this is the exact right kind of plan (that is actually within realistic reach). I agree with the post above as well that Pulju in the Mtl trade instead with Allen coming back as part of it is sensible. Allen probably suits Holland's likely desire to have a vet with Skinner rather than another younger goalie, although Vanacek has a decently long track record already.

Agree with both, Allen is definitely more of what the Oilers need. Not sure if the Habs are willing to let him go at this point with all the uncertainty with Price last year.

It will all depend on Price - but in a rebuilding phase, it actually helps to have no goalie ahah.

I think habs would be likely buyers for Georgiev or Vanecek to internally grow their next starter - EDM want to compete now and don't have the luxury of low expectation to develop a young goaltender. Allen is a vet with playoff experience.

I believe habs and Oiler would be great trading partner as they are not within the same division and play each other too often - so Poolparty is not likely to haunt you 6-7 games a year and in the playoffs.

Why would Montreal pay that price to take a salary dump from Edmonton? We don't "need" Barrie. Montreal is not a playoff team and they are not trying to be. I don't understand why anyone would think Montreal would pay for a salary dump. Edmonton will probably have to give up a pick to trade him. Same with Kassian and Keith. That is my opinion at least. It will be an interesting week!

We are about to lose Petry and we will have Savard and Wideman as RD... Barrie is young and would still be when habs are ready to compete.

Habs are gonna need a PMD - KH is building a fast and offensive team - so Barrie could help in that aspect.

Caps should be all over this deal -- really makes sense for both teams imo and you could have your pick of Samsonov or Vanacek

Agreed, Barrie is a very useful player to have, imo his cap hit is definitely correct for what he brings. The Oil simply have two of his type of player in him and Bouchard, and Bouchard has a higher ceiling as an overall D (may not get there, but we'll see) and doesn't need big $ until next season when Keith is off the books. So Barrie is just a bit of a redundancy. But if a team doesn't have a Barrie or Bouchard type puck mover, then Barrie should help.

Yeah, that will be compete in 2-3 years. Barrie is 31 in three weeks. He is not young by NHL standards. I don't think Montreal is not concerned about having a "complete" roster this year. Or at least I hope not. Montreal needs another bad year (standings wise). I hope Hughes sees it the same. Does not change the fact that he is a salary dump by Edmonton. I still think Edmonton will have to pay to get rid of Barrie.
