The market is weak for goalies, if the Leafs announce that they will be open to trading his rights, there will be a bid. You don't have to pay but there are 4-5 teams that will try to sign him

There is a difference between a winger being available when there are other wingers you can target and when there are only 4 'good' goalies available in the UFA market that teams will need to overpay on. There are over 10 teams that need a starting goalie and the only goalies that could be a starter is: Kuemper, Husso, Campbell, and Fleury. What about the 6 other teams that need a goalie? No one is trading their established starter unless it is a massive overpay

It makes sense why the Lightning got a 7th for Goodrow or when the Oilers offered a 6th for Hyman, you can find other wingers that are available
