Schmaltz had a good year but I have a hard time believing Dean would play him at center. He's not good in his own zone and Dean really likes defensively responsible centers. He's sort of intriguing to me but we'd be buying high on him for sure. It seems like the plan is to build through the draft and we'd likely have to give up a futures package like this for him... Think I'd rather just keep the picks and Greenway.

I was thinking I could put some more onto Middleton, was thinking with the RFA status they might be able to bring him down a touch. Thinking about Middleton some more, Lauzon is actually a really good comparable for him. I still think he gets closer to $3M AAV rather than 2 though.

We have Rossi and numerous picks to move up in this draft. Greenway was given 3 years extension to keep 3rd line together and Minnesota isn't trading an asset for a player whose not a true c.
