You do know Blackwood only played 25 games last year and had worse results than all three goalies that played for Edmonton... McLeod is OK but not a guy I'd be moving jp for.
Why not just buyout Kass yes the term attached to a buyouts sucks but far better in his case than using a first and getting basically nothing back that's more damaging.

Yeah that is fair. I have seen trades in for NJ posts including Blackwood to the Oilers. And for McLeod, only to have him play with his brother Ryan.

Take Erne instead of Smith

I do like McLeod but I'd be targeting him to possibly replace Derek Ryan or shore. 4th line duty.

Yup... bringing up injury history kinda makes it worse. If Holland wants to gamble on a starter with health concerns why not just talk Smith into coming back....
