Except the Rangers wouldn't be losing Georgiev for nothing. Even if he get offer sheeted the compensation would likely be a 2nd round pick. There are also a lot of team like Edmonton or potentially Minny that are looking to be contenders that need a low cost effective goaltender. There will be a bidding war.

Leafs (and Marlies) are really thin at centre of Matthews or Tavares are injured, hence why I think Kerfoot should stay....but that does create cap issues. That's a real cross your fingers with those two goalies.

You can trade a a fairly low cost good goalie for at least a 2nd especially if another team offer sheets him and your minimum compensation is a 2nd. It's a seller's market. There are a bunch of teams looking for a goalie at his price range that have cap issues like Toronto and Edmonton. Also, you don't need to be cap compliant until the first day of the season.
