Mode - plafond salarial: Basique

Description

IR: guys that have a chance to make next year’s roster, only one of them will probably make it, rest will go to the AHL.

LTIR: RHD candidates that Dallas could get (preferably at under 5 million dollars, first half via trade, the other half via FA (I didn’t put the correct years in their contracts because I’m too lazy).

Rest of the roster are those who will probably be on the team’s opening roster (minus Suter cuz he sucks and should be bought out).

They have an overload of RHD, with Doughty, Roy and a boat load of prospects, I don’t see Walker staying there. Could be an option.

CHI

A good shutdown defensemen, could be a perfect partner for Miro. Chicago extended him and I don’t think they’d let him go cheaply. Less likely to be an option.

Petry, Jeff (1 250 000 $ retained)

MTL

Petry has been in a whole lot of trade rumours since almost last year, and Dallas was one of the team associated with him. Montreal has expressed not wanting to retain on him and still get a pretty big return. Dallas shouldn’t be interested in him over 5 million. Not likely as an option, but still has a case.

Mayfield, Scott

NYI

Young and cheap RHD, not associated with any trade rumours plus NYI would probably like to keep him. Not likely.

NYR

Lundkvist has no room in NYR with Fox, Trouba and Schneider being in front of him for the foreseeable future. Dallas could be a fit in a prospect swap, but I see Lundkvist being involved in a big player deal instead. Somewhat likely.

Young RHD in a Toronto team filled with too many NHL caliber dman and not enough cap space. Could be result of a trade OR an OS considering it could be likely that Toronto couldn’t match. Trade: somewhat likely, OS: not that likely considering there haven’t been many OS (or successful ones) in the past, except the Canes troll job on the Habs.

Schmidt doesn’t have a lot of room in Winnipeg’s future at defence. I see him being traded, but to a divisional team plus retained, that I’m not too sure. Not likely.

Don’t see a fit with Holl and the Leafs considering they have a lot of better dman at their helm. Could be an option.

Both are stuck behind Faber and Clarke who’re superior on the depth charts. Could see the Kings being open to a prospect swap with either of these two. Could be options.

Young and cheap defensemen who’s similar enough to Murphy. Don’t see the Pens trading him, and if they do it’s not going to be cheaply. Not likely as an option.

FYI, the accepted wisdom right now is that Sean Walker stays on the LTIR list until 2023. And Jordan Spence (NHL experience) and Helge Grans (A prospect) might be available.

Oops didn’t realize that as of now. Never checked his age, but I assumed he was still fairly young.

Didn’t realize he was injured, also thanks for the feedback. I know Clarke and Faber are most likely untouchables and won’t be traded, which could open up room for Grans and Spence being moved.

Immediate help, my top-3 would be:

1) Shattenkirk
2) Montour
3) Murphy (favorite option, but will also likely cost the most)

Young solution, my top-3 would be:

1) Liljegren
2) Spence
3) Lundkvist

Also, neither Johnston nor Stankoven are eligible for the AHL next season. They are both still too young. It will either be CHL or NHL for them. One of them might see a 9-game tryout, but unless they absolutely blow people away in training camp, I don't see them full time in the NHL next season.

Bourque has a shot at seeing good NHL time next season, even if he starts in the AHL. Worst case scenario, he should be one of the first callups in the case of injury.
