John Gibson's last 3 seasons combined (142 GP):
.904 SV%
3.07 GAA
-19.1 GSAA
And before you say that Anaheim was a bad team, here are his backup's numbers in those 3 season:
2019-20: .908 SV%, 3.05 GAA, -2.1 GSAA (combined Ryan Miller's 20 starts and Anthony Stolarz's 1 start)
2020-21: .882 SV%, 3.51 GAA, -11.2 GSAA (Ryan Miller's 14 starts)
.926 SV%, 2.20 GAA, 4.2 GSAA (Anthony Stolarz's 7 starts)
2021-22: .916 SV%, 2.71 GAA, 8.2 GSAA (combining Stolarz's 23 starts with Luka Dostal's 3 starts)
So with the exception of 40 year old Ryan Miller, Gibson's numbers have been equal to or worse than his backup's - so it's hard for me to even say "well he's putting up bad numbers on a bad team" when the guys starting 1/3 of the games every year do better than he does.
It's just a biggggg contract to take on and give up as many assets as you have Toronto giving up here for something that is far from a sure thing.
