Why does ARI, a rebuilder, consider that trade?

Not nearly enough for CHI to do that trade. Dubas sent the #13 OA pick to shed $6.25 and you're expecting the Hawks to accept a FAR less asset in order to shed $8.6M.

Slightly different circumstance. Problem with Marleau was the fact that the buyout cost exact same as keeping him around, but that's not the case with Mrazek. Also Marleau had full NMC and got to dictate what happens with him.

I reckon 2nd+3rd will be the amount it costs to dump Mrazek.

I'm not saying TOR should give the #13OA, but to have the expectation that another team should buy him out is pretty far fetched. It's still $5.73M owed to Mrazek at the time of the buyout and has FOUR years of cap implications. Why would another team want to do that? In all sincerity...it's better for a rebuilding team to just keep the cap hit and "rip off the band aid" faster. I would accept a 2nd and an A- prospect. Abruzzese or Roni, but that's the absolute minimum I'd accept.
