I do not think that Chychrun is worth 13OA, even in a mediocre draft. And I don't think it's going to cost anything to dump Josh Bailey.

Not even worth arguing about Bailey. I agree with you, but let’s just wait and see what happens at this point.

What about the fact we signed Burakovsky? They would be better off putting Raty at LW if they are gonna do that.

Raty has never played in the NHL - cant just assume that he is going to be NHL-ready. Banking on that is a recipe for disaster. Also, he is a center and most effective as a playmaker from what I have seen in his brief AHL career and the scouting reports

Bailey is not worth his contract...so even though he still has value as a player, not many teams can absorb a 5mm cap hit for the next two years. That is why you have to pay to have someone take him. If he only cost 3mm/year, then he would bring back value (for example)

I’m not even saying he should play LW. Just saying that Burakovsky isn’t worth that kind of money or term.

I’m not too worried about moving him cause his actual salary is low. Ottawa, Buffalo, Anaheim, Detroit and Seattle r all possible landing spots.

What value would Bailey provide to those teams? If Bailey was on an expiring contract then he might bring in a pick at the deadline for one of those teams, but otherwise those teams are not trying to be competitive. If I were one of those teams, I would not trade for Bailey.

Let me make sure I understand what your saying. So basically Bailey only helps winning teams, but Bailey can’t be traded to one? And no team in the NHL tries to add veterans during their rebuild to speed up the process or help younger guys develop?

And players with two years on their deal like Blake Coleman and Barclay Goodrow are never traded at the deadline? Not comparing Bailey to them, but either way this is an interesting take.

He's been with the Avs 3 years now and scored at a 65 points/82 GP pace during his time there, including 22-39-61 this year, and as of now has 26 points in 35 playoff games during the same time period. He's 27 and coming off a $4.9 AAV deal, so I don't think 6x$6M is outlandish. I'd prefer going after Valeri Nichushkin if we're trying to sign one of Colorado's UFA wingers this summer, but Bura has been a solid player the last few years and I don't think he'd be a bad signing at all with that contract.

His playoff production has been brutal and he’s not a top line winger imo. Seems like an overpay.

Also unless you are getting a superstar like Johnny G or even an elite two way player like Nichushkin then you shouldn’t spend that much money on a wing.
