Either you think John Gibson solves your goaltending problem for 5 years, or you don't. If you don't, you don't trade for him. If you do, you pay a reasonable price for a starting goaltender. The offer shown is the equivalent of what Joe Sakic paid for one year of Darcy Kuemper, who had a 0.907 save percentage when he was traded. That's fewer than 4 goals in a THOUSAND better than Gibson's figures for the last three years. I'm not saying that Gibson should get five first-round picks and five A prospects, but I am saying that he should get more than that return if you accept the premise that he's worth acquiring at all.
