Nah you gotta be patient, still only 21 years old. In a more offensive-minded system with hopefully some better linemates, he's gonna breakout.

I will actually be so happy if he breaks out this year. Would solve a huge 2LW gap for us on an elc contract.

When he was up with the leafs, which wasn't much, sometimes he'd seem great, sometimes not too much. Just like any rookie though. I found he tried shooting too much up with the Leafs. When he returned from injury to the Marlies however, he was amazing. He's got an insane shot as well. Think of him as Caufield LIte.

Hard worker who needs to iron out parts of his game, but he has a lethal shot and can create offence for himself unlike other goal scorers. Yet to be fully seen at the NHL but all the tools are there to become a very good top 6 scorer. His offensive ceiling is Alex Debrincat lite, it’s just a matter of if he can actually put it all together or not. At the worst, he should still be a good 3rd liner, but that’s absolute worst

I think he takes a year to adjust and then breakouts in 2023-24 just likei expect byfield to, but thats just my opinion

On almost any other team Wahlstrom would have scored more than 20 goals in each of the past two years. If he gets 15-17 min TOI with PP time he can easily have a 25-25 season
