Feels like you could get way more for taking those cap dumps. Difference between 1st and wings 2nd isn’t much. I think Leafs would give you a 1st to dump PM if you send a cheap roster player back or of you take Holl… something like that.

Monahan You could probably get a 2nd + prospect to take his contract.

NJ can probably getva better deal, sure on monahan. Value aside, I dont think Toronto needs to part with a 1\st to move mrazek.

He is young and talented. He hasn’t produced to his potential but he can still turn it around and it’s also getting a 2nd round pick to move
Back as well.

3.8m X 2 years ? Yeah I mean that would take a 2nd to dump. Leafs don’t have a 2nd so you do the math. Maybe a team like the Az will do that for a 3rd but I don’t understand why anyone would take such a bad contract for less than a 2nd. Leafs can keep him but it’ll be dumb to waste 3.8.m in cap on a bad backup goalie

I figure a 3rd. Leafs received a 1st and 3rd to drop 2 spots in the draft. They aren't dropping 15 spots for a 2nd. Sorry.

A third would be absolutely best case for the Leafs. I wouldn’t do that for less than a 2nd if I was a GM. 3.8m X 2yr in a dead cap should cost way more esp for an aging goalie coming off a terrible year. Stranger things have happened though

The cost to trade up from 40 to 25 is ironically the 40th pick. I'd say that's pretty fair value for Mrazek's contract considering Toronto doesn't even lose their pick here; they're just downgrading it.

His buyout is 1m -800k-1.4m-1.4m. His minors cap hit is 2.8m. Both are worst case scenario. Both are better than paying that price. Winnipeg 3rd, maybe add a prospect or mid 23 pick. Toronto has been digging up gold in the late 1sts 2nd and 3rd round.

Pretending like taking Holl is doing us a favour was the other thing I took exception to.

Actually no it isn't. Since that is not happening. No it is not fair. Toronto is 100% not moving their 1st to dump mrazek.

Now if Detroit had another 2nd to trade I would be fine with moving our 1st for 2 early 2nds (33-49). Leave mrazek for us to deal.

If you don't want to move him that's fine but that IS fair value. Sorry if you don't like it but your own GM is partly responsible for setting the price on trades like this...

Yes acting like having 4 year of dead cap is no big deal. 3/4 of those years is 1m and 2x of 1.4m or having 2.8m in the minors is better than trading a late 1st to completely removing a 3.8m bad backup goalie. Leafs can’t afford to have any wasted cap. MR just got a healthy raise. They have no starting goalie. Taking Holl would add an extra incentive bc they are no freeing up nearly 6million. Lol it’s not rocket science you seem to be convinced that teams are willing to eat nearly 4m on a bad backup for next to nothing. That’s extremely optimistic

Again... no it is not fair. If you're trying to compare mrazek to marleau you never understood the marleau trade. Same goes for staal and his nmc. It sure is funny that keafs HAVE to accept this trade. Much like the idea to move up to 2oa... it's not happening. Moving up in the draft will cost you much more.

The only way Toronto considers this is if their player at 25 is gone and they think their next player will be available at 40. Maybe there would be some sort of deal to be made.

Lol, never said next to nothing. Said you're not getting our first. We will keep Holl and mrazek, possibly move one or both somewhere else. If that bothers you... pound sand. I really don't know how much more clearly I can put it.

Didn't say anything about "have to". But that is fair value even from Arizona. It's not an argument; it's precedent and leverage.

Considering detroit got a 2nd for one year of marc staal. Moving back 15 spots for 2 years of mrazk is fair. You might not like it. But it is a fair deal. Toronto is Going to be desperate for cap space teams
Aren’t going to trade for mrazk because they want him. Nor sre they going to do the leafs any favors.

Still, I have seen Zacha up close, sometimes players are just what they are...I'll take the #2 potential over seeing Zadina suddenly shoot up, a second that can be anything, but really after top 7 there is a drop off in my view. Just not the right move for the Devils. Get the big asset, not pray on potential for someone who has been disappointing for someone else.
