No reason for Smith to be on IR,
so you’re over the Cap

Anaheim doesn't need another left-handed middle-6 forward.

Smith is on LTIR cause there's no "retired" option to keep his contract off the cap. I always though 35+ contract counted to your cap if player retired, but a couple of articles mentioned that if the 35+ contract is not front loaded ... salary in last year is more than earlier years, then it doesn't count towards your cap. So Smith can retire without his contract counting to the Oilers cap because of the way the deal is structured, So no, I am not over the cap.

Picked first team on the drop down. Could be anyone. They had inquiries about Foegele at the deadline. I expect a 3/4th rounder would be fair value. Doesnt matter what team.

Did he say he was retiring?
Looked fairly good in the playoffs for the most part

Good chance he does, probably better than 50-50. All over Oiler media today that he's got to think about his future.

So then he hasn’t?
Great post, thanks
That’s said just about every old player, just about every year

Assuming he’s retiring is premature,
especially when you put the odds at 50/50

No he hasn't but this is fantasy team about next year. The chance of any of the proposed trades/signings/retirements/buyouts is probably less than 1%. So why lurk here if you gonna pick 1 idea and say "that'll never happen". None of these will happen. You could say the same thing about any of the trades proposed. Has the other GM accepted? he hasn't. So your whole fantasy roster is just that ... "fantasy". If youre just trying to be a jerk, nice job. You succeeded.

Way to go

Your argument is so ridiculous its funny. But you keep going. lol.

"Smith hasnt retired so youre fantasy proposal is garbage."

Last I checked, Yamamoto hasn't signed that contract either, neither has Kulak. GMs in Dallas and Arizona haven't accepted the fantasy trades either. Why pick on the Smith retirement proposal -which probably has a greater chance of happening than any of the trades - over the fantasy trades. You make a fool of yourself.

Because its F-A-N-T-A-S-Y. Its F-U-N.
