I'd keep olofsson, I think he hits 30 and 60 this year. Selling that off for two seconds while paying two first round picks (9th and 28th), plus an A prospect, a B+ prospect, and a recent second round pick- for the difference in production, that seems like brutal asset management. Hard stop.

You're underselling olofsson. The 5v5 stuff isn't even true anymore. Debrincat is really good, he's also gonna be due for a crazy raise after next season. This is a double whammy thing- you pay an absolute ton to go get him, then you have to make him a 70 million dollar contract offer to keep him. Murphy is fine, kick the tires on him. Blaming olofsson for 30 goals against is strange, wingers don't usually catch the blame for goals against, he's not Mark stone, whatever. So he plays with asplund, and peterka is supposed to be very good both ways too.

I wouldn't do that Chicago trade, atleast for that. And Murphy had a really bad concussion at the end of last year. I am not moving JJ, he's gonna be special.

The 5v5 stuff is absolutely true, his numbers were pulled up by Asplund who had a near selke level season defensively. Ultimately the value of this deal comes down to how you perceive olofsson's play without the puck. You don't see it as an issue, which is fine. I believe its a serious issue, and that it out weighs what he brings offensively 5v5, which isn't all that much unless someone else is doing heavy lifting in terms of possession driving.

If I felt the same way about olofsson as you do id dislike the deal to, so I completely understand where you're coming from.

I like Debrincat but neither trade feels useful. Olofsson is already Debrincat light and we lose Peterka #9 and more just to slightly upgrade our winger and get a middling RHD probably worth pick 28 at max
