Yes it is fun.
Serious reply.
I really like:
Liljegren, second pairing RHD
Knies, excellent LW prospect,
Engvall, excellent mid 6 and PK forward
Niemelä, excellent RHD prospect, and
2022 1st round pick should be 27th OA now that Florida was knocked out of the playoffs giving the Sabres 5 picks among the top 41 this year
Obviously Mrázek is a cap casualty, I will presume Niemelä would cancel his negative value.
That leaves Liljegren, Knies, Engvall, and 2022 1st.
Buffalo has four top 6 forwards Olofsson, Skinner, Tuch, (maybe Okposo plays well enough to be included) and of course, Thompson.
Then Buffalo has seven mid 6 forwards Krebs, Mittelstadt, Cozens, Asplund, Girgensons, Hinostroza and Okposo.
IF a trade is made it would be to move several assets to obtain another top six forward, not trade one for several assets.
On the other hand, that is just about the same value that Buffalo got for Eichel.
Krebs = Engval
Tuch >> Liljegren
First = first
Second minus third < Knies
Your fun post would be very difficult for me to over look.
I will be the ONLY Sabre fan would probably say yes and hope that Thompson does not get any better.
Sabres would be taking a huge gamble on the future, while the Leafs would be looking to win now.
This may cause the Sabres to take a step back this year but they leap forward in two years when the 2022 picks, Knies and Niemelä break into the NHL.
Next years line up could be:
Skinner Cozens Tuch
Olofsson Mittelstadt Quinn
Engvall Krebs Okposo
Asplund Girgensons Ruotsalainen
Dahlin Jokiharju
Cozens Liljegren
Samuelsson Pysyk/Miller/???
