Cap space is moved to 82,5. Give that extra mil to Fleury. He wouldnt come back for only one million even if he wanted too

Malkin too much and Letang too little.

To much of the same roster. Needs more of a shakeup than Max Domi

I think we need more of a shake up than this, agree with the above comment.

Here's the question you've gotta answer:
- If we lose Malkin but keep Letang can we make playoffs? Is there an easy replacement for Malkin?
- If we lose Letang but keep Malkin can we make playoffs? Is there an easy replacement for Letang?

To be losing Letang takes us out of the playoffs and defense collapses. Only replacement is Klinberg, but Letang is better.

yeah Fleury get 2mil with the extra cap space

imo malkin more vital then letang... it's easier to find elite defence rather than offence... plus you have Matheson who IF he cuts down mistakes can be a solid number 2 guy playing as a 1. and you have poj who can take a step forward and be top 6. and marino is probably going to take another step forward. and if we don't sign letang you don't trade pete.

there is NOBODY that can bring close to what malkin brings to the table in house nor on the market (same as klingberg, kadri not as good and will cost more)

plus there is the cap space to keep both why not keeping both? they are our franchise cornerstones.

plus I don't agree with the shake up the roster thing... this team is adding poj and o'connor from wbs, domi and rakell (cuz he didn't play).... the rest of the team is GOOD or very good. the only players I would move on from are kappy (which is on a great deal here and it is tough to find production for less then 2mil) and Carter (who had a great playoff and just signed the contract so he'll be 3c hextall loves him ) and you have both Poulin and puustinen who can challenge for a spot.

BUT more importantly we were one shot away to beat the rangers playing with no rakell (top 6 F) dumo (top2 D) both goalies and sid out for a game and zucker hurt there is no need for many changes. with domi you add a bit of grit goal scoring and skating and still young. rakell for a full season getting more chemistry with the team. poj one year older and better.

if we beat the rangers I am pretty confident we would have beat Carolina with jarry back after that it's about puck luck and big time plays in big time moments.

I just believe we are not that far away.

I would love to have Malkin back, but I don't think it's a must. It all depends on the price and 7.5 mil is too much. 6-6.5 mil I would do it. Yes we were close to beating the Rangers, but we are a older team. Older teams don't win the cup. Need a combination of veterans who know how to win and youth. And I know we have guys in WBS, but we need it down the middle as well, having our centers be 38, 36, and 35 is not ideal. Sullivan's whole game is speed and he almost got us to second round with a slow team, imagine how good we could be with more speed. Guys like Anthanasiou, Nichushkin, Marchment. Toughness is good too for the playoffs, dosen't have to be our identity but it is good to have 1-2 of those guys that can step up.
