Merrill isn't a need in Anaheim they already have an over abundance of D plus a 2nd+3rd+4th round pick for Cam Fowler one of the better D men out there no way.

Anaheim fans just dont seem to understand the gravity of their situation. You are going to lose a good defender this summer for little to nothing. It may not be to the Devils. It may be a better deal for Anaheim than presented here. But, it wont be anywhere near Fowler/Vatanen/whoevers true value. It could, worse yet, be for nothing to Las Vegas.

Actually. Trading for Merrill in this situation is a boon for Anaheim because he can fill your exposure requirement for the expansion draft. As is, you stand to lose Josh Manson, which I'm sure you don't want to do. The picks are just extra assets that you can't actually lose.
