The Kings have boxed themselves into a corner with some bad long term contracts.....Gaborik, Brown, probably Quick, and if they sign Kopitar for the rumoured price another one, plus the unresolved Richards contract. In July 2016, Dustin Brown will be 31 years old, with 6 years left at 5.875m a year. Last year he scored 11 goals in a full season.
The Kings are screwed with his contract. The Hawks cannot rid themselves of Bickell with 4m per year for just 2 years, and he scored 14 goals last year. Please, why would Boston or any team want Brown, when salary cap is so important?

If you are going to sign Kopitar for $10M, desperate moves must be made. Good effort overall, although that Brown trade would probably be to a floor team, like AZ, and include a high draft pick going to AZ. If a floor team doesn't bite, LA would need to retain some salary. Three stars

Don't know why the Kings would sign Kopitar for such a high price. Who are they bidding against?

The Brown trade to Boston wasnt necessarily saying thats where he should absolutely go..kind of just a toss up on the team. Makes sense why they would want a player like Brown though when they lost Lucic. Brown can definitely still compete and make an impact in games. Plus, after the 15-16 season Boston will have close to $23 mil WITHOUT taking into consideration the raise in the cap. They would be able to afford Brown.

Sorry Drew...a declining Brown, 11 goals last year, on the wrong side of 30 years, is not an impact player. Yes the Bruins will have 23m plus to sign next year, but they have to sign 11 players to reach a 23 man roster. We will have to wait and see,but if the Leafs can't move Phanuef/Lupul, the Hawks can't move Bickell, the Pens can't Scuderi and maybe Kunitz, think how impossible it will be to move Brown. Just not happening.
