I think there will be a few teams that are willing to take on Monahan's full contract. I think Calgary may be able to actually get a few assets for him instead of it just being a cap dump.

A 36 year old LHD that signed a 1 year deal with LA, getting a raise AND more term and a goalie that the Wings already waived (not to mention multiple other teams) and let go for free, that is making league minimum on a 1 year deal, getting an a more than 3x raise and 2 years of term, for one decent season, as a backup...
