Description
Firstly, I have been working on this prior to the playoffs, so my opinions may change after / during the playoffs
Secondly, I think the team can continue to go 11-7, thus giving Broberg a chance at the NHL level, which I think is important for his development.
Finally, the cap is set to increase by 1m next year, so I set that accordingly.

-Get rid of Barrie. The contract is not good, but he's still a really good powerplay driver, which the Flyers need, so he has some value, but not much.
-Kassian has to go. He shows up once every 13 games, otherwise he's just doing cardio on the ice with no impact on the game at best. Cap dump to Ottawa, who I heard kinda likes him.
-Signing Kane to 4x4.5m. I have very little faith in Holland being smart with the cap, but if Kane wants to go any higher than this, please let him walk. If someone else signs him, great, if not, he better like making 4.5m (oh nooo, poor him) to play with the best player on earth and have super inflated numbers. NO NTC or NMC, we need to be able to get out from under this contract if we need to. I think he agrees to this because he's a controversial guy who not many teams would be keen on signing. I understand and agree, but he's been on the straight and narrow in Edmonton.
-Sign Jesse to a longer bridge deal. His difficulty finishing may prove to be a benefit to the Oilers because it lowers his value. I have full faith it will not stay this way.
-Sign Yamo to slightly less for a shorter time. He's valuable, but streaky, and I don't have faith that he can drive play on his own like Jesse can.
-Sign McLeod because he's going to become a great middle 6 forward in my eyes. The numbers aren't there yet, which is why I think he will agree to this contract.
-Sign UFA Manson, just because we need to fill an RD spot. I think he agrees to this contract because he definitely isn't worth his current one, and he can play for his dad. That being said, another UFA RD would work too - e.g., Gudbranson.
-Run with Smith/Skinner. Skinner is rocking the AHL, and Smith hopefully can stay hot for one more year, starting around 45-55 games.
-Consider signing a long term contract with Bouchard now. I don't think I can do that on this system, but I would like to give him around 5m for a long term deal. His play is solid for what is essentially his rookie season, and he's only going to get better in my eyes. Sign him now before he's too expensive.

-For those of you who haven't seen the puckpedia post, IF Keith retires, his whole contract would come off the books (5.5m) PLUS a negative cap hit of 3.4m, so a total of 8.9m in cap space added. While I think Keith has played alright, I would much much rather have 8.9m extra in cap space. In that case, I would wholeheartedly support going after Andrei Kuzmenko (no higher than like 2x2m please, he's unproven and there's many people of Ukrainian heritage around Edmonton), and possibly more importantly a UFA goalie like Holtby, Kuemper, or Husso.

Barrie trade is fine, but i think it also cost a mid round pick to dump Kassian.

If you know Kassian is a cap dump then why in the world would they pay YOU to take his contract on. Pick needs to be on the other side and upgraded a couple rounds.

I think Kassian would be a buyout candidate if the trade wouldn’t work. Those two contracts are the ones that need moving this summer though.

I think you let Benson and Perlini walk. Let them move on to a worse team where they can play in the NHL.

I think that's a good point, and I should have made it a later round pick. The reason I think Ottawa accepts that is that they were reportedly at least somewhat keen on Kassian.

I like that sentiment and I agree because he's really quite skilled, but he's doing very very well in the AHL, where he could be positively influencing the development of some prospects. Also I just like him haha.

No way Manson would sign for that little. He will be highly sought after this off season as there a number of teams out there in need of RHD. Yes his dad coaching might give the oilers a bit of an edge to sign him but that is waaaaaay too much of a discount. Also, Colorado gave up a decent amount to Anaheim to get him, im sure they fully plan to get him resigned this offseason & they have more cap space than the oilers, not to mention are higher up on the cup contending list.

Holloway plays LW mostly, so i doubt they will have him slotted in on the right.

If Benson is resigned there is no need to give him a raise, and no need to give him 2 yrs.

Over payment for McLeod, i think he'd sign 3x$975,000

A big mean winger is needed for the bottom 6, preferably one that comes in for $1mil or less.

I understand the logic, just keep in mind 'somewhat keen' may just mean that theyre willing to take the contract on when no one else is. Could also mean that theyre keen on acquiring whatever the sweetener is that Edmonton may be adding because I promise theyre not keen on Kassian's at his cap hit when they have to sign Norris this offseason and Stuetzle/Zub the next.
