Wow that CHI/CAR trade is an interesting one. As someone who doesn't watch a lot of Hawks games, my only concern would be is Panarin legit or a product of playing with Patrick Kane.

I really like the idea. I posted something similar for Ivan Provorov. I do think it'll come down to something like this. I'd love to say Panarin has a slight edge because he's actually performed as a 2x top 10 scorer in the NHL, but you get comments like ON3M4N's and he's not the only one thinking that and certainly can't be ignored. Hanfin is a solid young player, but are we sure he can ever get into the top 10 in Norris voting? Kinda apples and oranges for a comparison, but it's a start. CAR needs offense and has a couple of other 1st round pick defensemen. I think they make a good trading partner this off season.

You're double counting the bonuses. They are already included in the $3.558M, which gives you another $1.2M to work with. That might change what you do, might not. I would have a VERY tough time letting Panarin go, even if trying to get some cap relief.
