Description
I want to hear from Vancouver fans. Who's part of the core. Who stays for the transition. Who needs to get moved.

The Sedins should get moved. They are the big pieces that could generate a decent return if half there salaries are retained. But they likely stay as they are important to the team and community. They likely stay along with Ericsson whom has a NMC and 5 yrs left at 6m. He's on the wrong side of thirty but hopefully he can be a piece that leads by example for the new younger core.

The rest of the forward group is relatively young. The D core is a mix of youth and vets so maybe one of them get moved for younger pieces. It's a tough starting point for a rebuild. Not a very deep draft.

The Core moving forward for Vancouver is Horvat and hopefully Patrick or Heischer up the middle depending on the draft lottery. On the wings Boeser, Goldoblin, Baertchi are in the right age group for wingers who should be part of the core moving forward. Virtanen had a difficult year in the AHL this year, but still could be a big piece going forward unless they could flip him for another forward similar in age and status. Dahlen could be part of this group, and his first pro year in North America will dictate how good he can become as part of the Canucks future. On defence Hutton, Stetcher and Juolevi are part of the core group going forward. Demko is there goalie of the future although they need to be patient with him and develop him properly in the AHL instead of hanging him out to try with a bad Vancouver team. Also worth noting Adam Gaudette is an intriguing prospect who Vancouver drafted in the 5th round in 2015 and had a great year in the NCAA for Northeastern finishing 9th in the NCAA in scoring. Outside of those guys Vancouver needs to do a rebuild properly like Toronto has done and shed salary of Vet players and give their young players an opportunity to prove themselves. Avoid free agent signings and continue to be bad and add young assets with the hope in a couple years down the road they can become a good team again and not a joke. But there needs to be some years of pain in order to acquire the assets to become a cup contender again

100 % agree with all of it. I heard Dahlen has an out clause where he can go back to europe if he doesnt want to go to the ahl, which I dont like so we may not see him in north america for another year. I can see them maybe acquiring free agents to just flip em at the trade deadline for picks.

What type of return do you think is fair for Tanev? Toronto has young wingers and draft picks.
