Well apparently so does Guerin. So guys like Fiala, a winger like him can be signed in free agency for cheaper. Not only is greenway is important to EK and foligno line but we are in a conference that we need him. I will trust in Guerin and his extensions over an online person..Clearly there are things about fiala that we don't see otherwise there would have been report of extensions taking place

If you trusted Guerin over an “online person” you wouldn’t be commenting on every Wild post trying to justify trading Fiala over guys who are far easier to replace.

Some Wild fans might remember Doug Wilson signing Setoguchi to a three year deal and trading him a few days later for Burns. Rare. But it does happen.

Especially with the situation Guerin is in, it wouldn’t surprise me if one of the guys he’s recently signed to an extension gets traded. In fact, you could make the case that he wanted to get some of these guys extended that would’ve walked into FA otherwise so he can can something back instead of just letting them go for nothing. Nobody can realistically tell me that’s it’s smarter to keep guys like Dumba or Greenway over Fiala.

One time. Not just talking about NHL either. It's rare because this would shut the door on extension and cause uproar with agents in any league which is why it doesn't happen.

There is also the sense of increasing someone's trade value by giving the team that you are trading them to cost certainty, as well as knowing they aren't getting someone for just 1 or 2 years.
