I heavily disagree re: Cutter. I don't see him going until the late 20's earliest

Why I put him there. Someone is going to go higher than we all think and I think Geekie is a prime candidate. I look at McTavish last year.

He has 19 goals in 22 games. He’s a big 6’3 power forward, excellent skater. Def top 15 .

McTavish didn’t have flaws tho. Geekie’s skating isn’t good . His ceiling is a 2C. And ottawa doesn’t need that and he’s likely 3 years away

He has consistency issues, his shot selection is dubious at times. He has 19 goals in the USNTDP Juniors, not a mens league. A lot of points in a junior league does not guarantee a top 15 pick.

We'll have to agree to disagree cause I simply don't see him a top 15 pick especially since he hasn't even played against men yet like a lot of the European prospects..

The thing is Ottawa has their 1C, adding Connor Geekie to that team would be a boon considering the botched pick last year, i agree that Cutter has top 20 ability, and he might make teams regret it next year when he plays college hockey, but being 6'3 in USNTDP Junior hockey is an advantage, given the value of size he will most likely find a way into the 14-19 range

I'm not saying it's not impossible. He IS a good player and could even go in the top half. Of the guys that I have "scouted" I can think of 20-25 guys I would pick over Gauthier.

Of course it's not a men's league but that doesn't automatically discredit his goal totals, does it? Then all junior stats would be worthless.

Caufield for example was slightly above 1.0 GPG and he want Top 15 despite his size. Gauthier doesn't have that problem and I bet some NHL GMs are drooling over his scouting report. He's better than late 20's.

Cool. I have already been thru the Cutter Gauthier conversation today. My opinion has not changed. Thanks, though.
