I have to disagree here...Levi and Portillo have shown jack shat at the pro level so neither one is blocking the other. Levi only has an edge at the moment bc Adams traded for him but until each suits up in Rochester and then the Sabres I don't see either one having an edge. You also don't trade from a weakness which is what the Sabres are in goal. Adams is patient and will let the young goalies shake out b4 moving one unless one tells him he isn't signing here or worse yet pulls a Cal Peterson.

He’s RFA but the point of this exercise is to assume an extension, per the description. That’s been discussed exhaustively here in the earlier comments.

Yeah one of your fellow fans suggested a 2022 1st (9-13 range) + lesser prospect instead. And I think that’s pretty interesting/compelling

I'd definitely consider that. We have one huge hole at either left or right wing. Fiala seems pretty versatile so he'd be a good fit.
