The Pens giving up a pick and Bennett for nothing to get rid of Scuderi doesn't make any sense. Pysyk would be picked off waivers in an instant.

The point is Bennett is a marginally better prospect than Pysyk. So to get rid of Scuderi you give up a pick plus lose a little bit in the Bennett for Pysyk swap. You're not getting rid of Scuderi without giving a team some incentive.

And I don't see the Sabres pay this much salary to a guy they don't really need just to obtain a marginally talented winger by giving up a D-man who's younger and cheaper and has some talent.

I think if you give up Bennett wouldn't you rather Foligno in return over Pysyk? How much better is Pysyk than Clendenning? They seem similar. Foligno replaces the hole at forward.

Agree with both of you. The point was mainly to show Pens fans what they can reasonably expect to get in a deal involving Bennett, Scuderi, etc.
