Kulak would play on edmonton's second pairing right now. Allen has proved that he can be a no.1 or at least a 1B, which is better than anything the oilers have right now. You might not like the trade but the value is there.

Still, habs would rather trade him and it helps arizona. As for Petry, I don't think his trade request is necessarily about the team being bad, but more about his family situation.
