What's with all the Stasty to the Pens trades? He doesn't make sense for us.

I disagree. Think he would fit well on LW of Geno or Carter. Think he can be a steal like Carter was. And Sully loves versatility. Can play Center too. Sully in game mixes and matches lines more than any coach in the NHL.

Simon has been terrible but might have value to another contender as depth/bottom 6. Being a cheap and veteran option.

Pens 4th line gets stale with him on it. They should give a run of PT to OConnor, Zohorna, Angello, Bjorkqvist on the 4th line.

And Pens fans been super high on Friedman since that save. He has played well the past 2-3 games though. I just don’t think he’s anymore than a depth-7th/8th NHL D-man.

If you can get a RHD prospect; along with a late round pick I would do it in a second. Seeing as Pittsburgh best RHD behind Letang and Marino are Ruhwedel and some guy name Maniscalco, that would be good asset management.

You won’t see a huge drop-off from OConnor, Zohorna, Angello, Bjorkqvist and playing Simon. I actually think the team would be better.

And in this ACGM, I traded for P.Myers. Ruhwedel just got an extension and is good depth at RHD. And PO-J at LHD. Friedman a would be expendable in this case.

People who don’t know ZAR game don’t understand his value.

https://jfresh.substack.com/p/zach-aston-reese-has-the-best-defensive?s=r

One of the best defensive forwards in the NHL. And super physical. Top 10 in “hits” in the NHL. Has 167 “hits” in 48 games. He’ll have over 200 this season. Which is pretty elite too as far as physicality goes.

And he’s a fan favorite in pittsburgh. I get a lot of hate for saying to trade him. I just think it would be good asset management to move him now. He’s gonna be a UFA for the 1st time this offseason. He’s gonna cash in.

And people don’t realize too. He was the Hobey baker runner up. Had 31 goals and 63 points in 38 games his Senior year.

Completely revamped his game to become a top defensive forward in the NHL. He can still put the out in the net enough and contribute offensively enough for a bottom 6

As far as Kappy goes; you can see it even on capfriendly. Literally every teams fans have posted a trade trying to acquire Kappy. If a fraction of real life NHL GMs are interested then Pens are probably gonna get better than Kunin.

Kappy super talented. It’s undeniably on the ice.it’s why the Pens traded a 1st round pick(15th overall) and a “B-“ “C+” prospect for him just a year and a half ago. He’s super fast, wicked wrist shot, decent playmaker, plays physical enough, and good 200 foot player as well.

He’s a .5 -.75 PPG player even playing poorly. That’s a good “floor”. Let him get hot for acouple weeks and he’s a 20 goal scorer again.

They are quality NHL caliber depth. Both players control shots and scoring chances, have a positive goal differential, and are dirt cheap. Moving them makes zero sense prior to a playoff run. Especially for a liga prospect who has no impact right now.
Ruhwedel is better than Myers. Dude is soft as hell and gets caved in at 5v5.

I obviously disagree. Every 4th line shift is so stale on the ice. Simon has been bad. I’ve even read articles from Pens beat writers saying the thing.
