Asking five guys to waive their NMC simply won't happen. Hjalmarsson and Crawford do have M-NTC so they are possible trade candidates. Bottom line, at least how I've observed things since about 2013, this team is so poorly managed. Until the cap goes up significantly, a half dozen rookies/projects will vie for regular spots every year, then be jettisoned when their ELC expire. The core? They are here to stay. I know this is crazy but Panarin may be the next casualty this off season (Friday?). His $2.5M overage will still be on the books next year, tho. Besides Hjalmarsson, I doubt any other team would realistically want any of the other bigger contracts should NMC be waived of course. It has been a good ride. Time for a new direction, IMO.
And this is not written because of Chicago's poor play in the last few weeks. Like I stated, this has been simmering for years.
