Gaudreau will want more. Giving up that much in assets just to overpay Boeser sounds awful and why even both with him if you're going out to get a big UFA like Gaudreau? A 3rd line of Shango, Mercer and Holtz is such a waste. 2 very high ceiling players and one good player that'll get like 11 minutes of ice time per night...

Goaltending is the biggest question mark for next year, which is scary because it's by far our biggest issue this year.
But I don't think Bernier needs to get bought out. He'll either play or LTIRetire.

I'm fine with keeping Zacha and Smith. Zacha would make sense to include in a Vanecek/Samsonov trade, as I believe the Caps have shown interest in him. But Smith is in his second year, there's no reason to sell so low on him right now.

Boeser is just simply not worth that money. I've said it on here before, but imagine Bratt's reaction when he's offered 5/6m after giving Boeser 6/7.75m... Almost 2mil more for a player that he SIGNIFICANTLY out-performed this season.

100% agree with this. Focus should be first and foremost on goaltending. I am not sure I am even comfortable going into next year with Blackwood as our #1b. I think we need to add a #1 and make MacKenzie earn his way back. If he comes into next season as unprepared as he was this year, we need to have 2 netminders ready-to-go.

As for Bernier, once he gets back from injury, he can rotate in Daws Schmid Mitens rotation.
