Could you explain why I honestly didnt think it was that bad

If Arizona is moving Crouse (who is a team leader for them) they will want futures. Barrie serves almost zero value to them.

My thought process was that they want players with term and Barrie is a top 4 defenseman with 3 years left on his deal. Crouse is a third liner who has had a pretty good year so far. As an Oilers fan I agree Barrie isnt what he was last year and has lacked a bit defensivly but still hasnt been terrible. The third rounder was more to make up for that fact but I want aware the importance of him to the team. Would a 1 for 1 trade be more even?

Why would they want players with term? Chychrun is literally on the market and has term. They 100% want futures and Barrie is anything but that.

Crouse is a middle 6 player, he can easily play in on the 2nd line as an effective power forward, he's also still quite young and an RFA

I doubt they would even consider a 1 for 1, according to Friedman the ask is a 1st and prospect
